The history of Le Touquet-Paris-Plage has always been linked to casinos. In 1903, the fledgling resort opened its first casino. During the Roaring Twenties, the Casino de la Forêt had its moment of glory and made Le Touquet-Paris-Plage the “must-visit” destination for the rich and famous and players from around the world. This setting and reputation inspired Ian Flemming, the creator of James Bond, to come up with the first novel of the famous spy series at Le Touquet and in its game rooms, under the pseudonym Royale-les Eaux. Later, a second casino located in the town centre, Casino Partouche, opened in 1976 to make the resort the main gambling town in northern France.
